TABLE tennis player Wang Hao won his first-ever men"s singles world title on October 14. In the final of the 2007 men"s World Cup in Spain, Wang beat South Korean player Ryu Seung Min （柳承敏） 4-0.

　　It was sweet revenge.

　　At the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, Wang was defeated （打败） by Ryu Seung Min in the final. He missed out on the gold medal.

　　Now Wang thinks he has made progress. I think I am more experienced than before. And I"ve learned how to control my rhythm, Wang said.

　　Wang was successful early. He became a member of the national team at the age of 15. But his defeat at the Olympics made him realize success doesn"t always come easily.

　　Wang keeps a text message on his mobile phone to encourage him. A friend laughed at him after Wang only got a silver medal in a 2006 competition. The message read: You must be the first player to win a silver medal Grand Slam （大满贯）.

　　The night after receiving it he couldn"t sleep. It really hurt, but it also makes me practice harder, he said.

　　Now he has his first gold medal, the 23-year-old can finally laugh at the message.
